How to vote by mail (2022)
Follow the 3 steps to Request a Ballot, Complete a Ballot, and Return a Ballot found on the NC Board of Elections website found here.
The deadline to request a ballot is 5pm on the Tuesday before Election Day (May 10 for the May 17 Primary). It's best to request the ballot well in advance due to potential delays in mail delivery.
Only a qualified voter or the voter’s near relative (“near relative” means spouse, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, stepparent, or stepchild) or legal guardian may request and return the absentee ballot request form, and the completed absentee ballot.
Forms returned by any other person will not be processed.
