Past Democratic Party experience (for example, offices served, committee participation, volunteer participation)
- I have been an active member of the democratic party. I have served the party as the secretary/treasurer of my precinct, the 5th district representative on the platforms and resolutions committee. I have been a member of the state executive committee since 2016 and in 2020 I was elected to represent NC on the Democratic National Committee. It is through that position that I also serve as a member of the State Executive Council, and the State Legislative Policy Committee. In 2022 I was elected to serve on the NCDP Council of Review.
- I have worked on campaigns at the local, state and federal level. I was a volunteer for Obama 2008 and 2012, Kay Hagen in 2014 and for Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in 2016. I ran for political office in the primary of 2018. I moved on to work on the Kimbrough for sheriff campaign for the 2018 general election. I was selected to be a part of Biden’s North Carolina progressives outreach council in 2020 and I was Sabrina Coone’s campaign manager in 2022.
- I was a district executive with the Boy Scouts of America and am currently a teacher and small business owner.
- My passion is organizing. From organizing precincts in our county to working on campaigns for myself and others, my sole goal was to energize and engage people so that we could effect change through the democrats we elected into office. I will bring this energy to organize to help advance democrats in both Forsyth County and North Carolina.

Past Democratic Party experience (for example, offices served, committee participation, volunteer participation)
- I organized Precinct 133 during the 2016 campaign and served as chair. When 133 split into 2 precincts, I organized Precinct 134 and served as chair. I volunteered in FCDP headquarters during the 2016-2022 campaigns. I have greeted at the polls during Early Voting in Lewisville, Southside Library, Rural Hall, and Mazie Woodruff Center. My canvassing experience extends through diverse neighborhoods in Winston-Salem including East 4th Street, Academy Street, Ogburn Station, Marshall Street, and Vineyard Road as well as Lewisville and Pfafftown. I have been a poll observer in various precincts in Lewisville.
- I’ve always been a Democrat!
- Most of my volunteer work has been channeled through church. In addition to 17 foreign medical mission trips, for many years I led the Knollwood-at-Work project wherein church members spent a day in the community. Some 15-20 years later, some of those projects have become ongoing programs in a church that values social justice.
- It’s not so much about what I have accomplished as the burning conviction that this country has to stop the daily slaughter created by guns. My role? Organize precincts in Forsyth County.

- I have had a desire to serve for quite some time, but due to work commitments, past pursuit of my master's degree and a past health issue I had to wait for the right time and opportunity to step in and step up. I feel strongly that personally and professionally now is my time. I also feel that we are at a time in our country and world where we need people who feel they have something to offer in terms of thoughts, ideas and leadership to become involved politically. My work in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has provided me with a firm grasp of many social issues, both nationally and internationally. I know that my work in DEI and education will serve me well in a political position where I can serve and promote our Democratic Party and principles.
- Supported Barbara Hanes Burke in her campaign for Forsyth County School Board and Winston-Salem City Council, Northeast Ward.
- As an assistant principal and in my current position I am often tasked with organizing a variety of events. I just organized National Diversity Awareness Month activities for the month of April. Organization and attention to details, along with communication, are two of my strength areas. I am also a relational leader.
- Working as an Equity Coach with Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools in which I presented professional development aimed at improving equity and inclusion within our schools. Along with that my current position in which I work with city departments and leadership on creating and implementing equity plans to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within departments. Additionally working to create greater diversity within departments to better reflect and serve the communities that depend upon us. I am heavily involved in training and working with people to assist in their growth towards cultural competency. I work in large groups, small groups and one-on-one as needed. I analyze data trends and patterns to see where we need to work, next steps, and where we are growing and improving. I collaborate with other divisions within my department, Language Access, Non-discriminatory Ordinances/Fair Housing. Among other projects I am working on a project for the city manager on reviewing all public facing documents for equitable and inclusive language. Our International Language Coordinator is collaborating with me on this project. Everyone should have equitable access to the services and supports that they need.

Past Democratic Party experience (for example, offices served, committee participation, volunteer participation)
- I am currently the Treasurer/Secretary for the West Forsyth County Democrats and for Precinct 135. I have participated in all types of voter outreach; door hangers, letters and postcards, voter registration through You Can Vote and the Democratic Party, voter information at various festivals throughout the city of WS, assisting the precinct chair as needed.
- Prior to the outbreak of Covid19 I worked with You Can Vote
- I am a retired RN. My early career included bedside nursing in a hospital setting. The last 10 years of my career I managed a 23 bed Medical/Surgical Unit and I had 43 employees that I was responsible for ensuring that all education was current and coincided with existing guidelines.
- I was never politically involved until I moved to NC 6 years ago. Whether the timing was right considering who was running for office or that I was fortunate enough to be encouraged by Angela Levine I slowly took on more responsibility. I can not say that this won't be a challenge but I feel that I should at least take advantage of this opportunity when there is so much at stake for all of our futures.

Past Democratic Party experience (for example, offices served, committee participation, volunteer participation)
- I don’t have any, as I was running for office before. But I don’t have any plans to run any time soon and I would love to help the Democratic Party with some renewed energy and vigor. We are needed now more than ever.
- I ran for City Council, South Ward, in 2019. I organized my Precinct (the newly designated 124) this Spring.
- I founded in 2016, and run the nonprofit Winston-Salem Ambassadors.
- I have built a strong connection of relationships across many sectors of the city. Because I love all, without reservation, it helps me continue to build and maintain relationships. I feel that would lend itself strongly to helping lead the Forsyth County Democratic Party. I frequently say that we are #BetterTogether and I fully believe it!
